Two very good reviews for agency clients in the new issue of LOCUS:

DRAGON IN CHAINS by Daniel Fox (Del Rey US, later this month): 'Daniel Fox tackles his material (loosely based on the myths and history of Old China) with a combination of insight, innovation and sheer command of language that transforms it into far more than just another tale of a boy [Han] with powers...Rather than romanticizing war, Fox shows the atrocities of a coastal raid in a few stark scenes witnessed by a grown woman (glad of her daughters for "it was a good day not to have sons".)...DRAGON IN CHAINS does reach several momentous climaxes, but it's only the beginning of the tale. Now I'm waiting for the next book, with all the impatience of a dedicated fan!'

THE SWEET SCENT OF BLOOD by Suzanne McLeod (Gollancz UK, available now ): 'This is a world where supernaturals - particularly fae and vampires - mingle freely with humans... Things get nicely atmospheric with touches of humor in the middle of massive misdirection, threats, and bloodletting, with a sexy overlay of corsets, a satyr colleague, bondage, and even a little girl-on-girl action...a fun read, with a piquant English flavour that helps make this first novel a standout.'
